The work involved in rigging and repairing longlines is time-consuming and costly. To make rigging and repairing more efficient, autoline fishing uses Svivellines, available in various versions and dimensions. A swivel line is a line equipped with swivels that connect to the groundline and snoods. Swivels are small mechanical devices that allow the line to rotate freely, preventing the line from twisting and tangling . Svivellines are 180 to 270 meters per length. For ocean going vessels the lines are 6 to 13,7 mm in diameter with breaking loads from 630 to 2 300 kg. For coastal autoline fisheries the Svivellines are 5,5 to 7 mm in diameter.
