The MagPacker is a hydraulic or electric system for automatic handling and storage of hooks and line. It provides space-efficient storage of magazines with hooks and line, reducing tangling during setting as the line coils do not catch on other coils and turn around when moving the line towards the baiting machine. This results in less manual handling of the gear during setting and hauling, increasing safety on board.

When rigging groundlines and hanging them on storage rails, ensure that they are spliced together in equal lengths, allowing for two or three lengths per rail. (Fremdeles relevant?)

It is important to remove shortened lengths of line from normal storage until the missing section can be spliced back in or new line added to restore the correct total length. The longer the spliced sections, the more challenging it becomes to replace the missing parts. The best approach is to store shortened lengths on a short rail or line collar, which can be put aside until the missing section can be spliced in. (Fremdeles relevant?)

Splice tangled sections of line back in as soon as they are unraveled. Trim each end so that the loops are the correct length once spliced. Avoid leaving tangles in a heap, as it increases the likelihood of forgetting their original position.

If you have lost some line, splice in new sections until you reach the required length.
